We are spoilt for choice when it comes to cycling in Sussex, both on-road and off-road. We have the fabulous South Downs, recently awarded National Park status, numerous miles of lowland and woodland bridleways and plenty of country lanes meandering through unique villages across Sussex. These routes offer some of the most picturesque cycling in the south not to mention an opportunity to explore those small out of the way places that get passed by in a car or train. A day spent exploring the back lanes and villages of Sussex with the occasional break in a local tea house or pub is the perfect way to spend a day.
The South Downs offers fantastic off road cycling for people of all abilities. Those of us who have been mad enough to cycle the 103 mile south down way in one day can vouch for its challenges, but there are much easier rides of all distances, some of our personal favourites being ‘the chip shop challenge’, ‘Jack and Jill to Lewes’ and the ‘Alfriston loop’.
A recent addition to our cycling packages is Night Riding on the South Downs, a quite unique experience that has to be tried to fully appreciate the excitement and nature spotting opportunities that cycling along with a very powerful torch on your head offers. Come and give it a go.
We can offer guided cycle rides across the county or just point you in the right direction if you fancy doing some cycling after a mornings fishing.
